Before
we begin.
A little clarity makes planning easier. Here are answers to the questions that often come up before a flooring or staircase project.
Can I get an estimate before deciding?
Yes. We offer a free in-home consultation to look at your space, take measurements, discuss materials, and prepare a written estimate. You can ask questions and review the scope before deciding.
Can you work with the hardwood I already have?
We assess the existing wood before recommending a direction. Depending on its condition, the work may involve refinishing, replacing individual boards, or installing a new section. We also review species, stain, and finish when matching an existing floor.
What happens during refinishing?
The existing finish is sanded back, damaged boards are addressed, and the floor receives the selected stain and protective finish. We review the condition of the wood and the finish you want before work begins.
Do you repair water-damaged floors?
Yes. We look at how much of the floor is affected and discuss the repair options. Some areas can be repaired with individual boards and coordinated refinishing; more extensive damage may call for replacement of a larger section.
Which wood is right for my home?
We work with oak, maple, walnut, and other hardwoods. Your preferred appearance, how the rooms are used, and your budget help guide the choice. Material samples make it easier to compare options in your own space.
Do you install solid and engineered hardwood?
Yes. Solid hardwood is made from a single piece of wood; engineered flooring has a real wood surface over a layered core. We discuss the space and the flooring options with you before selecting a product.
How long will my project take?
Timing depends on the size of the space, its condition, the work involved, and the finish. We provide a project schedule during planning and discuss access to the rooms while work is underway.
Can I stay home while the work is happening?
Many projects can be planned around an occupied home. We discuss the rooms involved, access, and any temporary arrangements during your consultation so you know what to expect.
How do I care for the finished wood?
We provide care instructions for your finished floor. Routine dust removal, prompt spill cleanup, and the recommended hardwood cleaning products are part of keeping it looking its best.
How do I get on the schedule?
